Microsoft Xbox 360 Controller for Windows
What more can we say. This is the one to have if you must have one. It works seamlessly with Windows, has a classiest uber-classy design and on the ball buttons and triggers. Want vibration feedback, get the awesome plug-in.
The only small complaint is that the D-pad is not quite up to the standard of the rest of the unit.
Logitech Gamepad F310
Logitech have specialized in Windows compatible peripherals since Adam was a small boy. As a result they have a range of the best peripherals money can buy. The F310 is no exception. Ten programmable buttons and an 8-way programmable D-Pad that helps out the left-handed.
For what you get, exceptional value for money.
Microsoft Xbox One Controller + Cable for Windows
We eulogized the Xbox 360. This is even better. Microsoft redesigned the Xbox controller and removed most of the problems – improved analog sticks and face buttons, and a uprated D-Pad. Wireless connectivity is also cool.
One point – you will need to buy extra batteries or an off-line charger.
Logitech Gamepad F710
The F710 takes the F310 and lifts it up a notch or two. Wireless with a six foot range allows you to leap about as you play without tearing the USB port out of your PC. Smaller and therefore more comfortable for gamers with smaller hands. The DualShock design and Xbox face button layout is featured and the vibration functions are magnificent.
A really great unit.
NYKO TECHNOLOGIES 80650 Airflow Ex Pc Game Controller
If we buy this one, it would be for one main reason – an internal fan to cool your hands. A real boon in long gameplay sessions. Easily programmable for both current and retro games. A really comfortable unit to use.

Sabrent Twelve-Button USB 2.0 Game Controller For PC (USB-GAMEPAD)
Another worthy contender in a crowded marketplace. Similar to many others, The one drawback is the missing WiFi capability. It uses a probably too-short USB wire. Even though wired connections can be a concern for some, this game pad still deserves a good look. Very good value for the budget price.
Gtron Retro USB Super Classic Controller For PC/Mac
This Gtron unit is a keyboard saver. If you play retro games using a keyboard emulator, then having one is a no-brainer. I can’t count the number of keyboards I have slaughtered playing PC pinball. I keep telling myself that tilt is “/”, but still power the right hand side of the keyboard into the desk.
The Gtron is SNES styled, compatible with both Windows and MAC and is worshiped by keyboards everywhere.
Thrustmaster GPX Controller with Official License
Thrustmaster went back to the drawing board for this little beauty. It looks different because of the design objectives of comfort and ease of use. Internally, the uprated vibration feedback and analogue interfaces provide an awesome gaming experience. The uprated design also included a substantially improved D-Pad.
We especially liked the safety feature that disconnects the cord when the dog trips over it rather than yanking the USB port from your PC.
8Bitdo Bluetooth Wireless Classic NES Controller for iOS and Android Gamepad – PC Mac Linux
If you need a old-school gaming controller have a look at this one. Bluetooth connectivity makes it a breeze to connect up. It supports the Windows and Mac operating systems and even some mobile iOS games. The NES/SNES design is a super feature and the emulation firmware is easily upgraded. Worth a good look.
Logitech G27 Racing Wheel
Here’s Logitech again, and here’s the racing wheel you need for the HD racing games coming onto the market. It works for both Playstation 3 and PC. Feature include easily adjustable pedals, full force feedback and weight shifting. Sixteen programmable buttons make it eminently customizable.
However, having said all of that it will take some time to set up. There are lots of wires to connect, and lots of setup options to configure. Overall you need one if you want to do some serious racing.
