Overall, great fun and enjoyment.
Child of Light
Amazing graphics like water colors are the standout feature of this game. One reviewer thought that they looked like they were painted onto his screen. Child of Light does not kowtow to genre standards, but still manages to fit in. The unique storyline and unconventional characters mix real-time and turn-about strategies leading to a game that is deeply satisfying. Perhaps it doesn’t have the RPG depth that it really needs, but overall an excellent game.
One downside – the characters speaking poetry can be really irritating.
Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition
Blizzard have go the fantasy genre down pat, exemplified by World of Warcraft and the Diablo series. Diablo is a fantasy game par excellence, in the kill baddy, gather new gear, repeat until either victorious or dead style.
It’s all about loot. As you pass through the dungeons bumping off hordes of Diablo’s troops, pick up the shiny new gee-gaws and weapons. Be careful though, the game generates a dungeon environment from on your actions as you move around. Most of the fun is in fitting out your character with the finest look and equipment to carry on the fight.
Addictive, fast, fun and keeps you glued to your game chair.
Destiny – PlayStation 4
Destinylooks like a shoot-em-up game, but that is deceptive. It’s is a role-playing game at it’s core. You will make your way round a sci-fi universe shooting all kinds of alien critters and nasty robots . As you do, your character’s level will increase and acquire new skills, weapons and armour by finding or buying them.
It is a shared world experience that keeps you close to other players, both friends and strangers as you pursue your quest.
Costume Quest 2
This is a deceptively simple game. Halloween themed, your group of revelers travel through time to make the holiday, unlawful in the future, lawful once more. Your fighting style depends on the costume you put on, a costume that you can change as you go. Interesting, but some players feel that the game still retains some of the ideas carried over from the original game. All-in-all though a fun introduction to RPG.
